Several of us from Bristol Nomads met up with Kelvin at Cwmcarn for a
little "off-piste" stuff.
We peeled off from the main track by the ranger hut (where cars have to
pay), then followed a forest trail for a couple of miles climbing the whole
time. We took off down a tree-covered trail - as I was wearing sunglasses,
I couldn't see a thing - still muddy from last week's rain.
I then lost track of where we were (though I got it logged on my GPS), but
we ended up doing some stupidly steep & rutted sections - sometimes with
roots for extra fun - before dropping into a swooping valley trail that
dropped us back onto a tarmac road near the start.
After that, we did the Twrch trail, taking in the freeride section up
top.
Excellent day's riding.
